What Projector is Best for You?
Choosing a projector for sewing can be a daunting task. There are many projectors out there and some do not work well for sewing. However, the best sewing projector for you depends on your unique situation. Thankfully, we are here to help you find the best one you can. There are 3 main types of projectors: Mini-projectors, short throw, and ultra short throw.
Mini-Projectors
Mini projectors are among some of the most popular options in sewing projectors. There are often budget friendly, easily accessible for purchase, and are lightweight for mounting.
Mini Projectors are right for you if:
- You have a decent throw distance available
- Ceiling mounted or Portable mount
- Budget $60-$300
- Purchase through Amazon
- Usually 2 lbs or less.
- Many connection types
Ultra Short Throw
Ultra Short throw projectors are projectors that create a larger picture in less distance than regular projectors. These can be a bit more expensive and are best purchased second hand.
Ultra Short Throws are right for you if:
- You don’t have great throw distance
- No holes in wall or ceiling
- Expensive, buy on eBay, Marketplace, or other second hand option
- Understand these run on bulbs and they will need to be replaced (around $150)
- Heavier projector
- Check connection types, Epson 470 and up have HDMI
My Old Projector
If you already have a projector at home, you may wonder if that will work. Possibly! Keep in mind that old bulb replacement can be pricey. If you are looking at replacing a bulb, check prices of new projectors first.
